Bangalee Reserve Bird Walk
Grade and Distance: - up to 4.5km (2.5hrs) - easy to medium grade, shady with some climbing depending on tracks chosen.
Vegetation Types - Riparian woodland, rainforest, open grassed areas, sandstone cliffs, open forest
What to look for:
Large-billed Scrubwrens and Yellow-throated Scrubwrens resident in the rainforest. These are two uncommon species found in one location. Painted Button-quail have been sighted here as well. With a wide variety of habitat in only a small area, there are opportunities to see Bassian Thrush, Brown Cuckoo-Dove, Green Catbird, Wonga Pigeon, seasonal cuckoos, Satin Bowerbird, Superb Lyrebird, Eastern Yellow Robin, Lewin's Honeyeater, plus many of the other honeyeater species, and Superb and Variegated Fairy-wren in a morning's birding.

Bangalee Reserve Bird List for 18th December 2021
Location:
The reserve starts on Koloona Drive off Illaroo Road, about 10mins drive from north of the Nowra Bridge. Picnic facilities, toilets and shelters can be found here with great river views from the jetty. Three walks to different habitats can be accessed from the track behind the remains of an 1890s slab hut.
