What to look for:
Grey and Chestnut Teal, Azure Kingfshers, Buff-banded Rails and occasionally Lewin's Rail can be seen in the creek and the vegetation along its edges. Nankeen Night-Herons sometimes roost in the trees along the creek and Yellow Thornbills are common in the Casuarinas. When the large fig tree on the beach side of the creek is fruiting, Eastern Koels, Satin Bowerbirds and Figbirds feed in it. Red-capped Plovers are common at the lake entrance and Sooty Oystercatchers on the rocks. The entrance is also a good site for Hooded Plovers and Double-banded Plovers during autumn and winter.

Location:
From Princes Highway, south of the Burrill Lake bridge, park at Lions Park. There is usually a good range of water birds on the lake, on both sides of the highway bridge. Walk towards the beach, across the bridge over a little creek. From the caravan park, walk along the lake edge to the entrance. It is also worthwhile to go to the nearby wetland (Bada Dam) south of Bada Crescent where waterbirds abound and some rarities are occasionally seen.
This walk can also be found in the Shoalhaven Bird Walks brochure.
